Types of Muscles

Smooth Muscles

  • Location: Found in the walls of organs such as the stomach and blood vessels.

  • Appearance: Non-striated.

  • Contraction: Involuntary.

Cardiac Muscles

  • Location: Found in the walls of the heart.

  • Contraction: Involuntary.

Skeletal Muscles

  • Location: Attached to bones, responsible for movement.

Subcategories of Skeletal Muscles

1. Parallel Skeletal Muscles

  • Description: Fibers arranged parallel to the line of pull during contraction.

2. Convergent Muscles

  • Description: Fibers with a wide origin that converge to attach to a narrow tendon.

3. Circular Skeletal Muscles

  • Description: Muscle fibers attached to the sides of a tendon, resembling a feather.
