Scene summary

Act one

A1S1- Orlando laments his situation and fights with his brother who promises to give him a small portion of inherited land. Charles the wrestler warns Oliver that is he is to fight Orlando, Orlando will likely be hurt. Oliver tells Charles Orlando is scheming and untrustworthy and Charles should not hold back.

A1S2- Rosalind is miserable so Celia promises to restore line of succession to her. The girls then discuss life before Touchstone joins in. Monsieur La Beau informs them of the match to take place, and the girls try dissuade Orlando from fighting, which does not work. Orlando wins the match and reveals his identity before he and Rosalind talk again both smitten. La Beau warns Orlando he would be safer to leave court

A1S3- Rosalind and Celia discuss love before Duke F banishes Rosalind. Celia resolves to follow her cousin into the forest and together they devise a plan to become Aliena and Ganymede.

Act two

A2S1- Duke S talks about his love for the forest and asks a man to bring Jaques to him

A2S2- Duke F rages over the disappearance of his daughter and commands Oliver be used to find his brother

A2S3- Orlando returns home to warnings from Adam that Oliver intends to kill him so the two hit the road
