The Water Cycle

Evaporation(output)

Water from lakes, seas and rivers is heated by the sun and evaporates rivers is heated by the sun and evaporates, rising in the atmosphere as water vapour

Evapotranspiration

Water evaporates from the soil is also given off by plants in a process called transpiration. This loss of moisture through evaporation from the soil and transpiration by plant

Condensation

the formation of clouds in the atmosphere the water vaporizes then cools and condenses around tiny particles of dust in the atmosphere

Precipitation

any form of water made from condensation of water vapour that falls to the earth’s surface from clouds. Types of precipitation includes: sleet, hail, snow and rainfall these are input in the water cycle

Interception

before water reaches the ground some of the precipitation is intercepted by leaves, branches and other vegetation and is returned to the atmosphere

Infiltration

The downward entry of water in the soil

Perlocution

The downward movement of water in the soil through the pore spaces by the force of gravity

Human Impact on the Water Cycle

  • Deforestation

  • Agricultural Practices

  • Air Pollution
