Violence and violent protest

On the whole, violence is seen as evil by most religious people, however for some, it is a necessary evil that could and should be utilised to bring about good outcomes.

The teachings of Jesus say that violence is never acceptable.

Protest = A statement or action expressing disapproval or objection to something.

“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” Isaiah 1:17

Violent protests are when you stand up for something but use violent methods to do so. Not everyone agrees that peaceful protests actually make a difference/big enough impact, so they resort to violence.

Most religious people would say this is wrong and that we should keep peace. Some would say it is a necessary evil.

Most protests, violent and non violent, are caused by injustice.
