1st Corinthians 12

  1. Spiritual Gifts

    1. Paul warns to not be ignorant to them

    2. Their history of being gentiles with pagan idols is not comparable to these gifts

    3. Judge things on how they relate to Jesus

    4. There are a large variety of gifts that all come from the spirit

    5. Diversity is a strength from the Lord

    6. A manifestation of the spirit is given to everyone for their benefit

    7. Wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, prayer, etc are all gifts of the Spirit

  2. Unification

    1. All this diversity belongs as one unit: The body of Jesus

    2. We were divided before but baptism has made us one in the spirit

    3. God has set all of us in place for a reason. Just as our eyes are different from our ears, yet are a part of the body still

      1. Just as each of us has different talents and spiritual gifts, we are all still one in Christ

    4. And all parts of the body are necessary, even the ones we take for granted or hide under clothing

    5. Honor is given to those hidden parts just as honor is given to those members of the church that are considered unglamorous or unnecessary

    6. There is no divide in this: all members are given their dues as important

    7. And because of this, we should all care for each other
