Introduction
The elements of music are components and characteristics that contribute to the overall sound.
Similar to ingredients in a recipe, each element plays a role in the music's flavor.

The 8 Elements
Tonality: The overall sound of the music.
Dynamics: How loud or soft the music is.
Timbre: The unique sound quality of an instrument or voice.
Texture: The layers of sound, indicating density.
Harmony: Instruments supporting the melody with chords.
Rhythm: The arrangement of notes differing in length.
Melody: A series of pitches that forms a tune.
Form: The order and arrangement of the parts of the music.
Rhythm and Meter
Rhythm: Arrangement of notes of different lengths; binds all music elements together.
It defines speed and connection of notes.

Time Signature
Comprised of two numbers: top (beats per bar) and bottom (note type).
Example: 4/4 means four quarter notes in a bar.
Melody
Definition: A melody consists of a series of pitches that create a tune.
It is the focal point around which other elements revolve.
Texture, Timbre & Tonality
Texture
Refers to the number of instruments or voices, affecting density.
Sparse (few instruments) or thick (many instruments).
Types of Textures
Monophonic: Single melody.
Homophonic: Melody with accompaniment.
Polyphonic: Multiple melodies.
Heterophonic: Variations of one melody.
Timbre
Unique sound quality, distinguishing different instruments.
Tonality
Overall sound quality; consonant (pleasant) vs dissonant (unpleasant).
May be in major or minor keys.
