what does rules and regulations mean in a venue?

  • talks about extra suppliers

  • it is either preferred or exclusive

preferred suppliers:

  • venue provides a list of RECOMMENDED extrenal suppliers

  • i.e. strongly suggest you use them but NOT mandatory

  • e.g. unique venues (any venue that is not a hotel or convention centre)

Exclusive suppliers:

  • The venue advises the external supplier (s) you MUST use OR provides a list from which you MUST choose

  • e.g. unique venues

Having a list that the venue provides you is a big advantage- it can provide u with a lot of information. It is not mandatory

on site catering and banquet staff:

  • MUST use their employed staff

  • CAN NOT bring another company onto the location to provide the food/ beverage or banquet service

  • e.g., hotels and convention centres- if this ever comes up in an exam, this would always be the answer

Costs built into food and the price

  • kitchen staff, banquet servers and bartender labour is included in the food and beverage price

Costs built into room and rental price:

  • Round dinner tables and banquet chairs are included in the price

Unique spaces:

Extra cost:

  • kitchen staff, banquet servers and bartender labour are (typically) an extra fee

Extra cost:

  • Tables/ chairs are (typically) not included. They need to be rented from an event equipment supplier

Extra cost:

  • may charge a landmark fee

Landmark fee:

any venue can charge a landmark fee

  • free typically ranges from 10-15%

  • it is often charged in food but also can be charged on beverages, labour, furniture, decorations and linen

  • the client pays the fee

  • The venue receives the fee

  • a landmark fee is a fee charged by the venue
