Analysis and interpretation

1500 - R-R method - small boxes into 1500
Sequence method - Large boxes into 300 (for example 5 big boxes divide by 300)
6 six method- count the number of R waves then multiply by 10

Caliper - a little tool that helps with measuring the rhythm of the strip

P wave - atrial depolarization
QRS - Ventricular depolarization
Depolarization - electrodes
Contraction - muscle movement

Afib - Rhythm is irregularly irregular

Segment - is a flat line
Interval - you need a wave and a segment

Sinus rhythm - upright P skinny QRS (60 to 100 rate)
U Wave - wave between T and P caused by hypokalemia
QR - Atrial rhythm and rate
RR - Ventricular rhythm and rate

Isoelectric - a flat line
***ONLY RHYTHMS THEY’LL ASK ABOUT***
Arrhythmia - irregular breathing
Afib - no wide qrs
Vfib - wide qrs
Junctional rhythm - skinny qrs, upside or inverted P

P wave means atrial kick
retrograde - backward

Supraventricular - not a ventricular rhythm, atrial because of narrow complex tachy.
Ventricular rhythm - wide QRS,
Agonal - 20 or less rate ventricular rhythm

Heart block

Bundle Branch block - interference in one of the bundle branches
LBBB - left bundle branch block (CONE)
RBBB - right bundle branch, 2 Rs (

While performing an exercise stress test on a patient, a technician observes elevated ST segments. the technician should identify these findings as which of the following? - myocardial injury

left paraspinous border - v9 lead

slightly on the left side with a pillow supporting the right hip. - for 35 week pregnant lady position

The technician should instruct the patient to apply the card over the middle to the lower part of the sternum to activate the monitor.

During a nuclear stress test, the patient should be in a supine position with the arms above the head so the camera can rotate around the patient to produce a multidimensional image.

Which of the following is an expected finding of impaired conduction through the AV node? Prolonged PR interval.
