Canon: Strict imitation of a melody at a set interval at a distance

Retrograde: Mirror image of a melody

Open Strings: Don’t touch the string with finger - 0 shape

Vibrato: Rapid micro pitch oscillation with the finger to beautify the note

Ostinato: Repeated rhythmic or musical phrase

Piano clusters: Play as many notes in between the peripheral notes

Descant: Treble melody played above basic melody

Harmonic: Go to the note and lightly touch the string - O shape

False Harmonic: Lower note is pressed fully with 1st finger while upper note is lightly touched by 4th string - Diamond shape

Double Stops: Play 2 or more strings together on a stringed instrument

Flautando: Like a flute - Bow over the fingerboard

Inversion: Melody/Movement in the opposite direction

Triplets: 3 notes in the time of 2

Augmentation: The rhythm is stretched - Refers to rhythm, not melody

Polymetry: 2 different time signatures simultaneously
