History

  • Frontier Airlines is a Denver, CO (DEN) based Ultra Low Cost Carrier (ULCC) that began operation in 1994. At that time, only five cities were served by two Boeing 737 aircraft. Today Frontier Airlines serves over 115 destinations with over 106 aircraft in the fleet.

  • The original Frontier Airlines made history in 1973 when they hired the first ever female commercial pilot in the United States. Within 5 years, more than 300 women had been hired as commercial pilots.

  • The launch customer for the Airbus A318, the airline now has an all Airbus fleet consisting of A319, A320 and A321 aircraft. Frontier Airlines flew nearly 23 million passengers in 2019.

  • Striving to bring awareness to endangered species, Frontier Airlines paints a different animal on each of the aircraft tails. In 2014, Frontier updated its livery to include, in large letters "Frontier" on the fuselage, using the flying "F" designed for the original Frontier Airlines by Saul Bass.

  • In recent years, Frontier Airlines has become and maintained its position as the greenest airline in the industry. By using newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft engines, installing lighter and more comfortable seats and being an environmentally conscious company, Frontier Airlines is 43% more fuel efficient than other airlines.

  • In April of 2021, Frontier Airlines became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker "ULCC", marking another milestone in the success and growth of the airline
