Connections Luminary and Aggie Traditions

Luminary Event Guidelines

The Luminary takes place on Friday, August 28th at 8:00pm at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The event features an address by President Mortensen and the tradition of lighting the "A" blue.

  • Pre-Semester (3-day) Sections: Attendance is required as part of Connections. Students attend with their assigned class, follow directions provided by their Peer Mentor, and enter through the south or west doors of the Spectrum.

  • Semester (7-week) Sections: Attendance is optional. Students enter through the east doors and check in using their A-number to receive a game day shirt.

School Song: The Scotsman

Students perform "The Scotsman" in the Spectrum during the Luminary event. The exact lyrics are:

Show me a Scotsman, Who doesn't love the thistle. Show me an Englishman, Who doesn't love the rose. Show me a true-blooded Aggie from Utah, Who doesn't love the spot . . . Where the sagebrush grows!
