13.2- A Definition of Persuasion

  1. Process of creating, reinforcing, or changing people’s beliefs or actions

  2. Symbolic process in which communicators attempt to convince other people to change their attitudes or behavior in a message

13.3- Why is Persuasion Hard?

Persuasion is hard because society as a whole has a bias against change due to comfort of established norms and routine, fear of loss, and comfortability of the known with creates a sense of security that makes people resistant to new ideas and perspectives
