Assess the influence of geology on coastal erosion:

Firstly, geology is very important with regards to coastal erosion as soft rock, for
example clay, can cause very fast rates of erosion due to its soft and crumbly
composition.

However, the type of coastline can effect coastal erosion more, for example discordant, this means that different types of rock face the sea at one time creating uneven erosion and in some cases slower erosion (e.g. headlands protecting
bays).

Secondly, geology is very influential as hard rock can create very slow erosion, e.g. igneous, this is due to the interlocking crystals making it hard for waves to break  it down.

Contrastingly, location and wave type can affect erosion, for example areas with a large fetch such as Cornwall, this means the waves are more destructive increasing the rate
of erosion.
