• two executives, HoS has actual power, HoG is elected via parliament

  • when everything is working, PM + President have clear, defined, separate duties

  • this is usually the case of they are from the same party/side but sometimes this also backfires because they will have a really strong Pres

  • cohabitation- when the PM+Pres are from different sides

• main parties are Republican On the Move (incumbent Macron), National Rally (Le Pen), Republicans, France Upbound, Reqonquent, Green

• in 2002 Macron got 57% Le Pen got 42%, fast forward to 2922 there is no dominant party in parliament (577 seats)
