The Amendments
First Amendment: Protects the freedoms of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition. It prohibits Congress from making laws that infringe upon these rights.
Second Amendment: Protects the right of individuals to keep and bear arms. It is often cited in discussions about gun ownership and regulation.
Fourth Amendment: Protects individuals from unreasonable searches and seizures. It requires law enforcement to have probable cause and a warrant to conduct searches.
Fifth Amendment: Provides several legal protections, including the right to due process, protection against self-incrimination, and prohibiting double jeopardy (being tried for the same crime twice). It also includes the takings clause, which ensures that private property cannot be taken for public use without just compensation.
