College Algebra 'Quadratic Equations'

College Algebra 'Quadratic Equations'

In order to solve quadratic equations, the zero property method requires you to do the following steps:

1. get all terms on one side of the equal sign

2. make sure quadratic term is positive (descending order)

3. factor the trinomial (or binomial)

4. set each quantity (factor) equal to zero

5. solve for both and could have more than one answer

Square Root Steps

1. isolate variable being squared

2. square root both sides

3. solve

Completing the Square- adding a value to both sides of the equation to make one side easily factorable

Completing the Square Steps:

1. if a does not equal 1, divide everything by a

2. add/ subtract the constant (last term) to the right side

3. square half the coefficient of x and add this number on both sides [1/2 (b)]^2

4. factor the left side

5. solve using square root property method

Quadratic Equation- (-b±√(b²-4ac))/(2a) when ax²+bx+c=0

Quadratic Equation Steps:

1. equation in standard form

2. use the quadratic formula to enter values for a, b, c

3. simplify the resulting equation
