Physical Properties of Metals

Physical Properties of Metals

  • Malleability: Ability to be hammered or rolled into flat sheets.
  • Ductility: Ability to be drawn into long wires.
  • Malleability and ductility are due to the easy movement of valence electrons.
  • Thermal Conductivity: Ability of an object to transfer heat, metals are generally good thermal conductors.
  • Electrical Conductivity: Ability of an object to carry electric current, metals are generally good electrical conductors.
