How is Luke’s infancy narrative different from Matthew’s? Why? -Luke's gospel has a census so that all of the people have to come back to their homeland indicating that Luke sees Jesus as the savior of all he also has Jesus born in a Manger indicating his poor which connects with the idea of the marginalized that is Luke's audience. Another thing that connects to the marginalized is the fact that he has these shepherds come to the birth. 5. When was it probably written? -John's gospel was written between 90 and 100 AD he was an apostle and his gospel was edited by the community which he lived in 7. Who is John’s audience? Why did the early Christians begin worshipping separately from the Jews who did not believe Jesus was the Messiah? -John's gospel was written for Jewish Christians who had been kicked out of the synagogue for Samaritans and for Greeks. The Jewish Christians were being kicked out of the synagogue because those that were strictly Jewish felt that you needed to decide were you either going to believe in Christ or not. If you were Speaking of Jesus then you were not allowed into the synagogue and you needed to just practice your faith somewhere else. This made the jewish Christians upset and therefore did not like the Jewish religious leaders anymore. 8. What is the opening of John’s Gospel called? What are the first 3 words? Explain “Logos.” -John's gospel begins with his prologue and starts with the words in the beginning this is supposed to connect you to the Old Testament story of the creation. In the creation story he refers to the word and the word is meaning Jesus in Greek the word for word is logos. This is meant to establish Jesus divinity. 9. What are they “signs” of? -the signs that John refers to are the miracles and they are to be an indication of Jesus’s divinity.
