The nanban Trade - Growth of merchant crash, “Nanban” was a term used to describe non Japanese, but it came to describe europeans in the 15th early 17th centuries

Daimyo invited Portuguese to trade with them, as well as facilitating trade between China and Japan

Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu - a daimyo and general he became the first military governor, shoguns were representatives of the emperor, but tokugawa Ieyasu took it further, effectively ruling for the emperor
