Resistance at Tule Lake
What is a thesis?
Japanese Americans resisted
Issei and Nissei
Issei had to deal with a lot of racial government/social cues (could be killed)
Nissei had to reassure that it wouldn’t happen because America wouldn’t do that (racial equality)
Butter people: Racial discrimination from native Japanese people, feeling of don’t belong in America or native country
Nissei was pissed that American soldiers were disloyal and betrayed their statement
They associate themselves with Japan even tho they heard Japan from their parents, they devote themselves to the US
Collective trauma
