Quotations Conventions
To talk about the name of something or a word without the definition, put quotation marks around it eg. Dog is an animal vs “Dog” is a word
Object Language & Metalanguage
when you talk about language, the language being talked about is the Object Language and the language being used to talk about the object language is the Metalanguage
In this course, the object language is TFL and the metalanguage is English
Metavariables
Metavariables are arbitrary
Represent a variable who’s value changes
Used to discuss expressions of TFL
Quotation Conventions for Arguments
TFL has no way to indicate something as the conclusion of an argument, so use therefore symbol to indicate conclusions
Therefore symbol is part of the metalanguage
