Hello everyone I'm Esther and we're gonna be going over the history behind Virginia cuisine starting with Native Americans. from the beginning they grew beans,squash and fished and that highly influenced the later English settlers and their fishing routes. aside from that they also taught the settlers how to cure Smithfield hams and even today it has an international reputation and by law can only be cured within the Smithfield town limits. aside from that they also developed wine that was made from grapes grown in the same watershed as their oyster harvesting areas such as the seaside and the western and eastern bays and getting into cooking oysters and other seafood I will pass it over to Tim.
