What is Media?
diverse arrangement of communication and information distribution methods to connect and interact through various platforms and formats.
Types of Media:
Print Media - text or graphics, ex: magazines, brochure, textbooks
Broadcast Media - broadcasting, ex: news, films
Film / Cinema Media - movies and films
New / Digital Media - social apps ex: facebook, messenger
Principles and Elements of Design
Balance - Elements on a page have visual weight (form, size, color, texture). Design stability requires appropriate scale for these elements.
Symmetrical: Identical shapes arranged equally on both sides.
Asymmetrical: Different shapes with equal visual weight.
Unity - harmony produced by all the elements. “as one”
Contrast - level of difference between design. It gives emphasis on that certain element. “unique”
Emphasis - attention to a specific design element. It is similar to contrast or works with it.
Repetition - using a repeated element.
Pattern - repetition of more than one designed element.
Rhythm - Visual tempo created by repeated elements with variation.
