BASKETBALL

High school basketball games are 4 quarters.

Each team has 5 players on the court at a time.

Each game is started with a jump ball.

Traveling is moving the ball without dribbling.

A ball touching the line is considered out.

Players can only stay in the lane for 3 seconds before a violation is called.

A free threw is worth one point.

Field goals are worth 2 points (inside arch) and 3 points (outside arch).

Man to man defense is when each person is assigned a specific person to guard.

Zone defense is when each person is assigned a specific area to defend.
