Mystery Game: "Find the Killer!"
Play a detective game: Find the killer!
Look at the picture: A woman in a yellow shirt has blood on it.
Who is the killer? It's the woman in the yellow shirt because she has blood on her shirt.
Why we play this game:
It helps you learn English words for colors (yellow), clothes (shirt), and crime words (blood, killer).
Polish Food Words
Let's learn about yummy Polish food!
Pierogi
These are "famous Polish dumplings."
Rosół
This is "Polish chicken soup."
It is warm, often eaten on Sundays.
About Roksana
Roksana
She is years old.
She is my neighbor.
Restaurants: Village vs. City
In my village, there is no Chinese restaurant, but in the city, there is.
This teaches you the word "but" to show a difference.
It also teaches "there is" when talking about things that are or aren't there.
Good to know: Big cities in Poland have more kinds of food than small villages.
Dessert! What is it?
Teacher asks: "Do you like … desserts?"
Student: "I don't know this word, what is dessert?" -> deser (in Polish).
Polish Cheesecake (Sernik)
“Traditional Polish Cheesecake {Sernik}”
Sernik is a very popular Polish cake made with cottage cheese.
Student example: "My dessert is … Polish cheesecake."
This shows how to say "My (food) is…"
Teacher's Lunch Time!
Student asks: "What did you eat for lunch, Teacher Kristee?"
Teacher says: "I ate cheesecake and carbonara."
You learn the past word "ate" (from "eat").
Cheesecake is sweet, carbonara is savory (not sweet).
Remember these words: eat → ate.
How we learn best:
Pictures! (like food pictures or the mystery scene) help us remember words.
Both languages! (English and Polish words together) help us learn.
Real-life examples! (like talking about a neighbor or the teacher's lunch) make learning fun.
Grammar we learned:
Present Simple: "Roksana is 14"; "There is no restaurant" (for facts).
Past Simple: "I ate cheesecake" (for things already done).
There is/are and the word but.
Culture we learned:
Seen famous Polish foods like pierogi, rosół, and sernik.
Learned that cities have many different kinds of food from around the world.
