Culturing Microorganisms
Nutrient broth is culture contains all nutrients bacteria need to divide
Agar gel plate contains nutrient broth turned into a gel which is poured into a petri dish we can see the cultures grow in a petri dish
- Kill any unwanted microorganism by sterilising all petri dishes nutrient broth and agar
- Sterilise inoculating loop by passing it through a Bunsen burner flame and then transfer the bacteria into the petri dish with inoculating loop
- Tape the lid onto petri dish to stop unwanted microorganisms getting in
- Place agar plate upside down in an incubator to stop moisture dripping down into the bacteria
- Incubate at 25 C reducing the chance of harmful bacteria to grow
