• without reinforcement to prior knowledge, information is forgotten quickly

Forgetting occurs immediately after information is learnt

→ 50% is forgotten after the first hour

If information is overlearned originally, more likely to be retained with greater accuracy

Limitation: Factors such as complexity of material & intelligence isn’t accounted to the rate of forgetting.
