LITERARY TERMS
In media res: the story is starting in the middle of the action
(rhyming) couplet: 2 lines that rhymes
Simile: comparing 2 things using like or as
Apostrophe: when things are being addressed but not on stage/present
Metaphor: comparing two unlike things without using like or as
Aside: one person talking to the audience and no one else
Pun: play on words. Shakespeare uses it for comic relief
blank verse: a verse using iambic pentameter
Personification: describing a non-human thing with a human characteristic
dramatic irony: when the reader knows something the characters in the play don’t
Soliloquy: one person expressing their feelings.
