1st Corinthians 9
Paul defends his apostleship
He has seen Jesus
The church is his work in the Lord
He was doubted by members of Corinth
Paul has a right to eat and drink at the expense of the churches and has a right to take a believing wife just as the other apostles do.
Paul’s Right to be Supported by Whom he Ministers to
Who plants a seed and does not reap what he sows?
It is right for the spiritual seed he planted to be repaid with material support
Corinth wasn’t against this, they just doubted Paul’s right to it
Those who preach the gospel should live from it!
So Paul does have a right to it, but doesn’t use it
So that he can boast that he preached without material support
Preaching the gospel isn’t anything to boast over, you’re supposed to do that
Woe to those who don’t and a reward is prepared for those who do
He is happy to preach the gospel just to spread it and without promise of being paid for it
Unlike some preachers
Though he is free from men, he has made himself a servant unto them
So that he may win over more people to Jesus
Run and Train in such a way like we are in a race for first place’s prize
For an eternal prize for us
So train your body so that the flesh is a servant and the internal is master
So that you don’t lose out on salvation
