Placing a Tail Tie Vet Practicum

Steps and Point Values:

- Lay rope over tail at tip of tail bone (6 points)

- Fold all tail hairs up over rope (8 points)

- Pass short end of rope behind tail and make a fold/bight (6 points)

- Pass fold/bight over folded tail and under rope around tail (6 points)

- Pull tail tie tight (6 points)

- Ensure tie is comfortable and not too tight (6 points)

Total possible points: 50

Students are evaluated on their ability to correctly demonstrate the step-by-step process for placing a tail tie on an animal patient. Points are awarded for accurately completing each key step in the procedure.
