Dialogue

Dialogue is how characters communicate with each other. We can tell a lot about a character in the way they speak. We can understand their emotional state, social class, geographic location, cultural background.

Dialogue is often used as exposition and to drive the narrative forwards. When writing dialogue, it should be natural so there is a lot of consideration taken in terms of how characters interact with each other. Dialogue is often written using informal language.
