  • Style:  how developed / why used / impact of author’s choice

    • Ie:  subjective (emotional) vs objective (factual)

    • Factual vs descriptive

    • Sentence Length / structure

  • Text Structure

    • problem/solution compare/contrast   sequential

  • Word Choice

    • Informal vs formal language

    • Emotional language

  • Facts presented - type and purpose

  • Mood -- how achieved?  

    • Focus on word choice
