Genotype- organisms genetic informaltion
Phenotype- individuals observable traits
Allele- alternate versions of a gene that arise form mutation
Pedigree- a chart that demonstrates the inheritance of a trait through generations
Punnet Square- used to predict geno/phentype
Dihybrid Cross- expirement between two organisms which are identical hybrids for two traits ( two organisms that are heterozygous
Ratio of Dihybrid Cross- 9:3:3:1
Monohybrid- cross in which organisms that are both homozygous (TT & tt) for traits
Genetic Traits- characteristics that are coded in DNA
Mendelian inhertiance- inheritance of traits controlled by a single gene w/ two alleles
X-linked Traits- controlled by sex chromosomes
males only have one x chromosome & inherit them from their mothers & pass it on to their female offspring but not male offspring.Recessive x is always expressed in males
Female offspring get their x-recessive traits from their father
Male offspring get their x-recessive traits from their mother
Autosomes- ( chromosomes 1-22 / unrleated to sex)
Differences in p53 alleles were the result of mutations in the DNA strands. It is likely that incorrect base pairings occurred, causing there to be a difference in DNA, ultimately leading to differences in the gene. (LI Fraumeni ) is one variant of p53 alleles stemming from mutations in the parent DNA strand that failed to be corrected and were later replicated.
