  • Vasanta is an ancient raga and finds mention in some old texts such as Sangita Ratnakara and Sangita Makaranda. It existed prior to the advent of 72 melakarta scheme of ragas with very well defined lakshya-lakshana and was considered to be a janya of malavagoula mela of those times.
  • Vasanta is a raga well-defined swarupa, rasa and bhava.
