1. Bund: A low earth wall built along the contour of a field which slows down the run-off of rainwater, preventing soil erosion.

1) Carrying capacity: The number of people that an environment can withstand before it is permanently damaged.
2) Coral Reefs: Corals are tiny marine animals. The often have hard outer shell of limestone.
3) Ecotourism: Tourist resorts and facilities which are developed to have least impact on the environment, usually on a small scale.
4) Mangrove: Trees which grow on tropical coastlines, where the rivers enter the sea. They are the only trees that can grow in the brackish water.
5) Mass tourism: Where many people visit the same area or resort, often resulting in problems for the environment.
6) Plantation: A large area of land used to grow one type of crop such as tea, sugar, coffee, cotton, and trees for timber.
7) Rainforest: Forest that grow near the equator, where there is high rainfall and temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius.
8) Tourism: The industry that sells holidays and leisure activities.
1) Conservation: To try to protect the environment from human activities such as poaching, deforestation, or new developments that threaten the natural environment.
2) Foreign Investment: Money invested in factories or developments, in a foreign country.
3) Inequality: Where some groups of people have more than their fair share.
4) Manufacturing Industry: Milking products such as electrical goods, machinary, and cars.
5) Service Industry: An industry that sells its service.
6) Smelting: The production of metal by melting the ore and taking out the impurities.
7) Squatter Settlement: A settlement which has been built by the people who live there on land that does not belong to them.
