Making a salt-

Required practical- making pure, dry crystals of a salt-

  1. measure a set volume of acid (name the acid) using a measuring cylinder

  2. warm the acid to speed up the rate of reaction

  3. add excess insoluble base (name the base- metal oxide or carbonate) and stir until no more reacts. Excess is added to ensure all acid has reacted and make the salt pure

  4. filter to remove the excess base using filter paper and funnel

  5. heat the solution gently using a water bath until some water has evapourated

  6. leave the solution to crystalize slowly pat dry with filter paper
