Bullying is…

  1. Unwanted aggressive behavior

  2. Repeated over time

  3. Power imbalance (physical, strength, access to embarrassing information, popularity, etc.

  4. Intentional to cause fear, distress, or harm

  5. There is a fine line between bullying or normal kid jarring

Bullying is not…

  1. A mean or rude moment

  2. Something that happens once

  3. Accidental or unintentional

  4. Not liking someone 

Types of bullying

Physical bullying

  1. Using physical force to torment or harm

  2. Hitting, kicking, punching, pinching, hair pulling, and damaging property

Verbal bullying

  1. Vocal comments intentionally directed at a person or people

  2. Name calling, insults, teasing, racist remarks, threats, and intimidation

Social bullying

  1. Harming someone's social reputation or status intentionally embarrassing or humiliating someone in public

  2. rumors , lying, exclusion or isolation, jokes or pranks to embarrass someone, rude facial expressions or hand gestures mocking or mimicking

Cyber bullying

  1. Using technology or social media to target someone

  2. Cruel messages, mocking posts, rude comments, posing as someone online

Mental/emotional bullying 

  1. Intentionally harming the way a person thinks or feels about himself/herself 

  2. Can be a combination of the other types of bullying

  3. Comments about worth or value, cruel nicknames (you should check a nickname with the person your calling the nickname before you use it in public if they don’t like it don’t use it

How do you deal with bullying?

  1. Being compassionate or just not saying anything but don’t look ashamed (only for verbal and mental) 

  2. Depending on what it is agree with them 

  3. Ignore them

  4. Ask a question

  5. Walk away 

  6. Block or report the person

  7. Open a book or right in a notebook

  8. Put headphones in your ears

  9. Start a conversation with someone else

  10. Stand walk and talk with confidence

  11. Always report the incident to an adult you don't have to handle it alone

  12. Agree with what the bully says

  13. Thank the bully for what they did

  14. Change the subjector try to walk away from the situation calmly to avoid escalating tensions.
