Energy Vocabulary and Engineering Foundations

Engineering is about making and building things to fix problems using science. It mixes different kinds of knowledge to create stuff that helps us in everyday life. The 'function' of something is what it is meant to do, like a chair's job is to support people sitting on it. To 'synthesize' means to take different pieces or ideas and put them together to make something new, like building something with toy blocks.

A 'system' is a group of parts that work together, somewhat like a sports team. Each player has a job, and together they aim to win a game. Energy is what makes things happen; it comes in different types, like when something is moving or when it has the potential to move. An 'argument' is just a way of explaining why we believe something is true, especially important in science and engineering to support our ideas with facts and clear reasons.
