Untitled Flashcard Set
Ecosystem: All living and non-living things interacting in an area.
Abiotic factors: Non-living things (sunlight, rain, temperature, pH).
Biotic factors: Living things (producers, consumers).
Biotope: A defined area with certain abiotic and biotic factors.
Habitat: A specific part of a biotope where an organism lives and reproduces.
Niche: The role and way of life of an organism (how it interacts with others).
Population: All individuals of the same species in an area.
Community: Different populations living together.
Symbiosis: Close relationship between speciesb (mutualism, parasitism, commensalism).
Predation: One organism kills and eats another.
Carrying capacity: The largest population size an environment can support.
Producers (autotrophs): Make their own food (plants, some bacteria).
Photoautotrophs: Use sunlight for energy.
Chemoautotrophs: Use chemical reactions for energy.
Consumers (heterotrophs): Get food from other organisms (herbivores, carnivores, omnivores).
Decomposers (saprotrophs): Break down dead matter and recycle nutrients (fungi, bacteria).
