Cells Transport

Created: March 14th

In this note, you will be able to view information about cellular transportation

Information: click arrow to view

Diffusion:

  • Equilibrium - when there is an even distribution of solute molecules in the solvent

    • Solute - The molecule being dissolved

    • Solvent - The liquid or gas doing the dissolving

There are 2 main types of diffusion:

  • Simple

    • Molecules moving from an area of high concentration

      • Random motion drives diffusion

      • Movement is based on kinetic energy(speed), charge, and mass of molecules

  • Facilitated

Concentration Gradient:

  • Concentration is the measurement of how many particles are dissolved in the liquid

    • High concentration = more particles

    • Low concentration = fewer particles

Passive Transport:

  • Diffusion across the membrane

    • Movement of particles from high → low concentrations

      • They must be relative to each other
