In this note, you will be able to view information about cellular transportation
Diffusion:
- Equilibrium - when there is an even distribution of solute molecules in the solvent
- Solute - The molecule being dissolved
- Solvent - The liquid or gas doing the dissolving
There are 2 main types of diffusion:
- Simple
- Molecules moving from an area of high concentration
- Random motion drives diffusion
- Movement is based on kinetic energy(speed), charge, and mass of molecules
- Facilitated
Concentration Gradient:
- Concentration is the measurement of how many particles are dissolved in the liquid
- High concentration = more particles
- Low concentration = fewer particles
Passive Transport:
- Diffusion across the membrane
- Movement of particles from high → low concentrations
- They must be relative to each other
