Development - Narration

Development - the process in which you support or explain the central idea of a paragraph, essay or other pieces of writing. Depending on your purpose you can use other methods of development.

Narration -

  • The most basic pattern of development

  • Tells a story

  • It tells a series of events that lead to conclusion or an ending

  • It tells the reader when, where and what happened

  • Arranges information in chronological order.

Transitional devices - use of verbs or words that transitions the ideas and messages smoothly

Foreshadowing - or creating a subtle message earlier in the story that might happen later

Cliffhanger - ending the story at the critical moment leaving the audience in eager to know what happens next

Flashback - shifting to a previous time that give context to the present events
