Importing and Customizing Email Follow-Up Sequence

Overview

  • In this lesson, the focus is on importing and customizing an email follow-up sequence using ActiveCampaign.

  • ActiveCampaign will manage and automate emails sent to prospects after they watch a training video and have not yet booked a call.

Step 1: Create an ActiveCampaign Account

  • Click on the provided link to create an account.

  • Option to right-click and copy the link location and navigate to it in a new tab.

  • Enter an email address to create the account.

  • Free trial available, pricing details:

    • Light plan: $9/month if paid yearly, or $15 for monthly billing.

  • After trial, will need to provide credit card information to select a plan.

Step 2: Integrate ActiveCampaign with Calendly

  • Integration allows tracking when prospects book a call.

  • Navigate to 'Apps' in ActiveCampaign.

  • Agree to terms of service.

  • Locate and select Calendly from the list.

  • Click 'Connect Account'; if already logged into Calendly, the connection is automatic.

  • All events set up in Calendly will appear in ActiveCampaign.

  • Activate the event you want to sync with.

  • Map necessary fields:

    • Email address (required)

    • First Name

    • Last Name

    • Phone Number (if applicable)

  • Ensure all relevant fields are mapped correctly and save the integration.

Step 3: Create Lists in ActiveCampaign

  • Three lists must be created:

    1. Get Clients Registrations

    2. Get Clients Booked Call

    3. Get Clients No Call

  • Steps to create a list:

    • Click on the lists icon.

    • Select 'Add a List' and enter the precise name.

    • After creating, refresh to see the new list.

  • For each list, edit to add a List URL and a brief description. Example for description:

    • "You are receiving this email because you requested information from [Your Name] on optimizing your business finances."

  • Repeat the process to create all three lists.

Step 4: Create Tags for Contacts

  • Tags categorize contacts based on their actions in the funnel. Important tags to create:

    1. Opt In (for those who opted in to a lead magnet)

    2. No Call (for those who did not book a call)

    3. Get Clients Closed (for clients that have been closed)

  • To create tags:

    • Navigate to 'Contacts' and select 'Manage Tags'.

    • Paste tags (ensured no extra spaces) and click 'Add Tags'.

Step 5: Connect ClickFunnels to ActiveCampaign

  • This integration ensures names and emails captured through ClickFunnels flow into ActiveCampaign.

  • Steps to add ActiveCampaign integration within ClickFunnels:

    • Go to 'Account Settings' > 'Integrations' > 'Add new integration'.

    • Enter a nickname, API key and URL (to be provided from ActiveCampaign).

  • After integration, set up landing page actions:

    • Add a prospect to the Get Clients Registrations list.

    • Tag them with Opt In for the lead magnet.

Step 6: Import Email Automation and Templates

  • The automation sends emails at scheduled intervals to prospects.

  • Navigate to 'Automations' > 'Create an Automation' > 'Import an Automation'.

  • Copy the provided URL and paste it into the dialog box to import.

  • Follow prompts to set up lists and email details as given in the cheat sheet.

Step 7: Create Email Signature

  • An email signature enhances professionalism. To create:

    • Go to 'Campaigns' > 'Manage Variables'.

    • Add a variable called Signature and set the personalization tag as my signature (case-sensitive).

    • Create and format the actual signature.

    • Option to use tables to design layout (picture on one side, text on the other).

Step 8: Customize Emails

  • There are 14 emails to customize, sent every other day.

  • Typical customization actions include:

    • Personalizing greeting (using placeholder for first name).

    • Including links to training videos and other resources.

    • Adding relevant themes or stories to each email; focusing on providing value and encouraging the prospect to book a call.

    • Editing subject lines and ensuring the preheader text is engaging.

  • Use test emails to confirm appearance and pass spam checks.

Final Notes

  • After client closes, manually add the Get Clients Closed tag to their contact record in ActiveCampaign to prevent further follow-up emails.

  • The lesson concludes with a complete email follow-up sequence setup using ActiveCampaign and ClickFunnels for effective lead management.
