Electrolytes

Electrolyte: A substance that dissolves in water to produce a solution that conducts electricity. This happens because the substance dissociates into ions, which are charged particles that allow electrical current to flow.

Hyponatremia
→ A condition in which the sodium (Na⁺) level in the blood is lower than normal.

Hypernatremia
→ A condition in which the sodium (Na⁺) level in the blood is higher than normal.

Hypokalemia
→ A condition in which the potassium (K⁺) level in the blood is lower than normal.

Hyperkalemia
→ A condition in which the potassium (K⁺) level in the blood is higher than normal.
