Land Areas
1. East Asia
Japan: Island nation in the northwest Pacific Ocean, located east of the Korean Peninsula.
Korean Peninsula: Landmass extending south from mainland East Asia, situated between the Yellow Sea to the west and the Sea of Japan to the east.
2. Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia: The subregion of Asia south of China, east of India, and north of Australia.
Malay Peninsula: A narrow landmass extending southward from the Asian mainland toward Sumatra, containing parts of Thailand, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
Sumatra: Large island in western Indonesia, located directly southwest of the Malay Peninsula across the Strait of Malacca.
Indonesia: Vast archipelago lying between the Indian and Pacific Oceans in Southeast Asia.
Philippines: Archipelago in the western Pacific Ocean, located northeast of Borneo and east of Vietnam.
3. South Asia
Indian Subcontinent: Southern region of Asia bounded by the Himalayas to the north, the Arabian Sea to the west, and the Bay of Bengal to the east.
4. Central & West Asia / Middle East
Central Asian Steppes: Vast grassland expanse stretching across northern Kazakhstan and Central Asia, north of the Central Asian mountain ranges.
Anatolia (Asia Minor): Large peninsula forming modern-day Turkey, bounded by the Black Sea to the north, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and the Aegean Sea to the west.
Middle East: Transcontinental region encompassing Western Asia, Egypt, and Turkey.
Arabian Peninsula: Large peninsula located southwest of Asia, bordered by the Red Sea to the west, the Persian Gulf to the east, and the Arabian Sea to the south.
5. Europe & Black Sea Region
Crimean Peninsula: Peninsula extending into the northern Black Sea, just south of mainland Ukraine.
Iberian Peninsula: Southwestern European peninsula comprising Spain and Portugal, bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
6. Africa
Sub-Saharan Africa: The entire area of the African continent lying south of the Sahara Desert.
Swahili Coast: Coastal strip along the Indian Ocean in East Africa, spanning modern-day Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
