    -trying to understand each religion + culture from an educational view, more of an appreciative POV

cultural landscape: how people project their culture + religion on an area

sequent occupance: a group of people leaving their mark on an area, like the pyramids in Egypt—> contributes to the cultural landscape of the area

ethnic enclave/ethnic neighborhood: they create a sense of belonging, occupations, food, free time where it might be similar to their original place of migration

sense of place: the feeling—or someones perception—of that an area has based on the experience that someone receives

placemaking: what a community is doing to make a place better and more attractive to people

DIFFUSION:
expansion: how things transfer/spread from people in a given area

    -hierarchial: when an idea spreads from one person at a high level (king, celebrity, government) and spreads to everyone below them—reverse hierarchial is the opposite, small person up to everyone else

    -contagious: the spread of an idea like a disease or virus (or like a meme)

    -stimulus: ideas from multiple cultures blending together to create something that is most popular in the area that it is in

relocation: moving somewhere else and bringing the idea with them

colonialism vs imperalism, trade

acculturation: changing into a new culture, but keeping your values and culture with you as well—a choice

assimilation: changing into a new culture so much so that you lose your own

syncretism: blend of cultures, kinda result of stimulus diffusion

multiculturism: aware of many cultures
