Healthy Eating and Nutrition Education

  • Healthy Choices: Student-driven plan to improve meal quality and cafeteria environment. 1000 for implementation.

  • Options include healthy smoothies (problematic due to palatability), healthy lattes (9-12 grade appropriate).

School Food Pantry

  • Aims to provide fresh food options (fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy, lean protein) for students in need.

  • Requires a letter of agreement with the United Dairy Industry of Michigan and a relationship with a local food bank or community partner (Revive).

  • Requires approval from a school administrator, electrical updates for installing a refrigeration unit.

  • 500 to support printable & digital nutritional educational resources, taste testing, and cooking demonstrations.

Suicide Prevention Certification

  • Suicide prevention certification, K-12, for teachers.

  • Requires one administrator and three staff members to complete two online courses.

  • Development of a community engagement strategy focused on suicide prevention

  • 2000 to begin/develop a comprehensive suicide prevention plan

Student Mental Health Ambassadors

  • Peer-to-peer student support group.

  • Would be better for high school.

Staff Training and Awareness

  • Need for district-wide training to raise awareness and sensitivity among staff.

  • Important to address potential insensitivity and ensure all staff are supportive and understanding of students' diverse backgrounds.
