Communicable diseases are spread between one another (Humans and Animals)

  • A pathogen is a microorganism that is infectious

    • Five ways that pathogens can transmit from one another.

      • Droplets

      • Animals

      • Food

      • Direct Contact (touching) DAFT

  • A virus is constructively a DNA that is not alive(does not have a cell)

    • Measles is a very infectious virus

      • Transmitted by droplets spread when an infected person sneezes or coughs.

      • Measles lead to a rash and high temperature and can be serious or fatal if there are complications.

      • Vaccinées are given.

  • A protist is singular celled and some protists are parasites that live on or inside organisms and cause them damage.

    • An example is malaria

      • Get it from mosquitoes (they are the vectors)

      • Causes fever and muscle weakness

      • Way to stop it is to release infertile mosquitoes and anti-malarial drugs

  • Bacteria is a microorganism

    • An example is Gonorrhoea

      • Get it from sexual contact (sex)

      • Makes urinating painful and causes the production of a thick discharge from genitals.

      • It can be treated with antibiotics and its spread can be reduced by contraceptives like condoms.

  • Fungi penetrates human and plants skin

    • An example is rose black spot that is caused by droplets

      • Make roses leaves have purple or black spots then yellow and reduces photosynthesis which leads to the plant growing slower

      • To get rid of it you should remove the the leaf with the black spots to prevent it from spreading to other leaves.
