  1. Most paralegals work for a firm or office. Working for a smaller firm would mean more close relationships, but more caseload and difficult work hours, along with more overtime. Bigger firms and offices have more normal hours and an evened out case load, because of more workers and specialties. I would prefer to work for a bigger firm most likely, because of the more regulated hours and bigger places typically have better salaries and benefits, and more opportunities for advancement.

  1. Freelance paralegals work for lawyers offices/firms, on a contractual basis, and a legal tech works for the public, typically without a lawyer. Working as a freelance paralegal means you work when you want, for who you want, with a lawyer to supervise, and can do more in depth work. Legal techs can work for the public, but not offer advice, and works more as a secretary. Paralegals at a firm have more normal hours and pay, with a decent amount of work as well.
