Example: "Cuando era niña, vivía en una casa pequeña… Siempre jugaba con mis amigos."
Contextual Usage of Preterite (Ocurrió, empezó, se cayó, se lastimó, corrí, llevé, llegó, dio, aprendí): Used for completed actions and specific occurrences that interrupt the background action.
Example: "Un día especial, ocurrió algo diferente… empezó a llover… mi mejor amigo se cayó."
Unit 5: Pronombres de objeto doble (Double Object Pronouns)
Core Formula
Subject + Indirect Object Pronoun (I.O.P.) + Direct Object Pronoun (D.O.P.) + Verb + Rest of sentence.
Rule 1: The I.O.P. (me, te, le, nos, os, les) ALWAYS precedes the D.O.P. (lo, la, los, las).
Example: Ella lee una historia a su hija → Ella se la lee. (She reads it to her).
The "Le to Se" Rule
When both pronouns start with the letter "L" (e.g., le lo, les las), the indirect pronoun le or les changes to se to avoid cacophony.
Example: Le compré un perro a mi hijo → Se lo compré.
Negatives
Negative words like no, nunca, or jamás must be placed before the object pronouns.
Example: No te lo haré (I won't do it for you).
Example: Jamás se lo daré (I will never give it to him).
Positions with Compound Verbs and Commands
Pronouns can be attached to the end of an Infinitive, Gerund (-ando/-iendo), or Imperative (Command).
When attaching two pronouns to the end, a written accent is required:
Infinitive: Accent on the final syllable of the original verb (e.g., escribírmela).
Gerund: Accent on the second to last syllable of the verb (e.g., escribiéndomela).
Imperative: Accent on the second to last syllable (e.g., Límpiamelo).
