Financial Liability in Business

Unlimited Liability

When a business with unlimited liability faces bankruptcy, the owners are responsible for covering the business's debts. This may require them to sell personal assets to settle these debts.

Limited Liability

In contrast, if a business with limited liability goes bankrupt, the owners' financial risk is capped at the amount of their investment in the business. They will only lose the money they have put into the business.

Public vs. Private Enterprise

Private Sector Enterprises

  • Private sector enterprises are owned, controlled, and managed by individuals or groups of people.

  • The primary goal of private sector businesses is profit generation.

Public Sector Enterprises

  • Public sector enterprises, also known as State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), are owned, controlled, and managed by the government.
